DIRECTIONS TO IMPORT FILES INTO A SPREADSHEET PROGRAM:
*We suggest that you open these TABTEXT files with a Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Works spreadsheet program.
*** YOU MUST OPEN THE FILES MANUALLY THROUGH THE APPLICATION!
(Don't DOUBLE-CLICK on the icon, DO THIS INSTEAD!)
1. Launch Microsoft Excel (or your spreadsheet program)
2. Go to the FILE menu in the program and choose "Open.."
3. Use the pop-up menu to go to the location where you downloaded the Reference Guide
4. Highlight the file name in the pop-up window and click the "Open" button.
5. The Excel program takes you through a 3 step "wizard."
6. Choose the options for "delimited text"
7. Select "continue" or "finish."
The info should appear in the spreadsheet cells.
(If you are using Microsoft Works you must specify to open the file as a spreadsheet. The program will go through similar steps.)
Once the data is in the spreadsheet it may be sorted by any column. Each ROW contains the information for one song.
To sort the information:
1. Select all the cells you wish to sort
2. Choose "Sort" under the "Data" menu.
3. Choose "No Header Row" and the column you want to sort by.
4. Specify Ascending or Decending order.
5. Multiple sorts may also be done in the same window.
You may want to save these file on a Disc to keep a backup.
